Safaricom is one of the leading mobile network operators in Kenya with more than 27 million customers, and its recent announcement has proven it is the most innovative.
The company is planning to build Kenya’s very first telecommunications lab and has partnered with giants such as Cisco, Huawei, and Nokia to complete this Sh. 200 million project. The lab will replace all of Safaricom’s networking, including the renowned M-PESA, the cloud, wireless mobile, and even the billing platform.
By creating the research lab, the company also hopes to retain, attract, and develop local talent within the telecommunications sector.
