F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG, headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, was founded in 1896 and is a leader in research-focused healthcare. Roche is the world’s largest biotech company, leader in in vitro diagnostics and tissue-based cancer diagnostics, and a frontrunner in diabetes management. Roche started out producing vitamin preparations and in 1934 because the first company to produce synthetic Vitamin C. In 1956 Roche accidentally produced the first antidepressant drug during TB drugs research. The company is often in the vanguard of critical healthcare research producing HIV tests and antiretroviral drugs (visionary work in this are resulted in a substantial fall in the AIDs-related death rate).
