LIFTING the economic viability of subsistence farmers is a key objective for many countries. In a free, competitive market such as Mozambique the banking sector has an important role to play in achieving this objective. BCI’s deployment of its vision to apply best practice, innovation and quality of services within the context of Mozambique’s diverse culture has resulted in a level of service that is bringing about positive change. The bank excels in many areas but the Business Vision judging panel wanted to highlight the outstanding work of the bank to improve the viability of the rural economy in Mozambique. The relevant leadership the bank is showing impressed the panel as an example others should follow. A decision was made to grant BCI the award for Outstanding Contribution to Rural Banking Award – Sub-Saharan Africa 2017.
