THE WORLD has a serious waste problem, with 80 percent of the two billion tonnes of waste produced annually ending up in landfills. Israeli pioneer UBQ Materials has a vision of “a world where finite resources are infinitely reused” and has patented a process that turns household waste — organic and plastic materials — into a commercially viable raw material. The resulting material, which can be recycled itself, can be used in thousands of products across various industries. UBQ Materials, Israel’s first industrial B Corp, achieves a negative carbon footprint due to its low-emission production process and the emission savings of its product. The BV judging panel presents UBQ Materials with the 2020 award for Best ESG Corporate Citizen (Israel).
