ØRSTED started out in the fossil fuel industry, but its future is decidedly green. It pioneered the world’s first offshore wind farms in the early 1990s and has pushed its portfolio to an ever-increasing share of renewables. Ørsted’s 2025 target is to become the first major energy company to generate zero-emission power; by 2040, it aims to have a carbon-neutral footprint. It hopes to accelerate that goal through collaborative research into carbon-capture solutions. The BV judging panel declares Ørsted winner of the 2021 award for Most Responsible Renewable Energy Leadership (Scandinavia).
