BRAZILIAN brewmaster Ambev forms part of Anheuser-Busch InBev, a group with a heritage spanning centuries and continents. Ambev has invested $22m in Covid-relief initiatives. Ethanol from its breweries was used to produce sterilising gel, and the firm manufactured and donated three million face shields to healthcare providers. It distributed water to communities that lacked reliable access and partnered with Brazilian hospitals to provide — in a record 36 days — 100 extra beds for Covid patients. The BV judging panel applauds these efforts and presents Ambev with the 2021 award for Best Corporate Sustainability (Latin America).
