The Dutch bank began as a co-operative and still follows that mindset, counting members rather than shareholders. In 2019, it provided over €40m in impact financing, benefitting some 400 organisations. Rabobank supports small-scale farmers worldwide and social enterprises at home. It reinvests profits into social projects in 23 countries across Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America — with project selection directed by member voting. The BV judging panel presents Rabobank — a repeat programme winner — with the 2020 award for Best Community Social Impact Bank (Netherlands).
