FOUNDED in 1959, the French multinational retailer Carrefour continues to expand its organic and local product offering and works with stakeholders to reduce food waste. It has reduced packaging by more than 1,800 tonnes and recycles 67 percent of waste. Between 2010 and 2018, it cut carbon emissions by 28.6 percent. It prioritises transparency and supplements performance assessments through external questionnaires from NGOs, investors and rating agencies. It has ranked among the top five global retailers in terms of CSR over the past four years. The BV judging panel presents Carrefour with the 2021 Best Retail CSR Strategy (Europe) award.
