The Ahren group includes eight distinguished partners, including Nobel Prize-winner Sir Gregory Winter and Andy Parker, head of physics at Cambridge. Founder and managing partner Alice Newcome-Ellis is a Cambridge University maths and physics graduate who manages a fund which is “completely different from anything out there”. Progress since the firm’s establishment in 2018 suggests she may be right. Parker signed up because he felt Ahren contrasted favourably to his earlier experiences of UK investment in science-based companies.
