EGYPT’S Commercial International Bank (CIB) is one of 325 companies worldwide listed in the 2020 Bloomberg Quality Index. The private bank — the only organisation in the country to be so honoured — was recognised for its “demonstrable commitment to the development of women in the workplace”. Criteria for mention in the index include opportunities for female leadership, gender pay parity, and an inclusive culture with policies to prevent sexual harassment. The BV judging panel notes that gender equality is at the heart of CIB operations, with women accounting for a quarter of executive positions and a third of the workforce. Much remains much to be achieved for gender balance — even at CIB — but credit is due for some strong accomplishments. CIB is winner of BV‘s 2020 award for Outstanding Contribution To Gender Equality (Egypt).
