BRAZILIAN fintech company Nubank launched nearly a decade ago with seed capital of $2m. It has attracted some big-name investors in the ensuing years, including Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway. The bank employs more than 3,000 people and serves some 30 million customers across Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Colombia. Nubank’s completely digital offering has resonated with Latin America’s unbanked — but mobile-adept — youth. It offers personal or business accounts for credit cards, loans and savings. The BV jury announces Nubank as the repeat winner of the award for Best Digital Banking (Brazil), this time for 2021.
